First things first, apologies for my lack of content over the last few months. Who knew that commuting to London from Ipswich everyday gave you zero time for a social life, gym routine or blogging? Hey ho, tomorrow marks a new chapter in my career and after a dreamy break in Barcelona I am ready to get back into the swing of things. To ease me back in I thought I would strip it back and write an old school beauty review (I hope you don't mind). Anyway, here goes...

Liquid lipsticks have never been one of my make-up staples despite being such a cult product in the industry. They dry my lips out, they don't look good after being topped up throughout the day and I generally find them to be quite high maintenance. That being said I am a fan of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks for a special occasion or something to take me from day to night because they last extremely well and aren't impossible to remove at the end of the night.

A few weeks back this Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit landed on my desk. Barry M is a high-street brand that I am a huge fan of - great prices, great quality products and they are often at the top of their game when it comes to offering high-end dupes. With the surge of expensive lip kits out there, Kylie Jenner to name only one of them I found myself taking a sigh of relief when I saw that this one retails for £6.99.

As you can see by the swatch above, the lip kit is called 'RUNWAY' and is a dark mauve/pink with brown undertones. This is definitely a colour that I would normally opt for in the evening if I had to prise MAC Velvet Teddy out of my hands.

What I love about this lip kit is that the formula is pretty spot on. Of course, it is a little bit drying and is a nightmare to top up throughout the day, but what liquid lipstick isn't!? It only requires one coat to offer an opaque layer on the lips and is a beautiful shade. A part of me thinks that the liner is a bit redundant as the liquid lipstick itself is such good quality that it isn't needed. However, it works great as a 'keep in the lines' technique if you want that perfect lip line.

It appears that these are a hit and are out of stock in quite a few places, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled if you want a cheaper liquid lip kit alternative.

What is your favourite affordable lip kit? x

If you are not familiar with BeautyMART firstly where have you been!? and secondly you must go because it is like a neon packaged treasure chest filled with niche beauty products for the savvy consumer.

Inside this beauty-filled treasure chest lies the DHC Cleansing Oil and for good reason. DHC is a Japanese brand so immediately I had high expectations. This cleanser claims to be an oil that completely melts and removes traces of dirt and make-up and when mixed with water turns into a milky consistency which can easily be removed with warm water. This cleanser definitely lives up to those claims and makes removing your make-up a complete dream.

The benefits of using this cleansing oil over say a balm or a micellar water is that it is a perfect hybrid of the two. The texture of it is thick and oily enough for it to effectively remove any make-up or dirt but because it emulsifies into more of a milk it is very easy to wash off and doesn't leave an oily residue. The practicalities of this product are also a winner in my eyes. It has a pump, which is a major bonus for me as you can control how much product you dispense and because of the effortless texture of the cleanser you can bring it into the shower with you and simply rinse it off with warm water.

You can purchase this cleanser for £24 - not cheap but a fair price for the quality at BeautyMART or online. I have combination skin and if you haven't guessed already am completely in love it but drier skins would also be very thankful for this product.

I know cleansers aren't the most exciting product to grace your bathroom shelf but when it is as good as this one you can't help but reach for it as a basis for your skincare routine.

Lets take a minute to immerse ourselves in the beauty of this eyeshadow palette. This isn't just any eyeshadow palette, it is the Anastasia Beverley Hills Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette and it is quite frankly, the dream. Forget the Naked palette, forget your trusty MAC quad this beauty really does trump them all.

I took a trip to New York last week and on the list of sites that needed to be explored, Sephora was of course one of them. I have been coveting this palette for a while for its gorgeous red tones and this was the perfect opportunity to pick it up.

As you can see from the close up, this palette contains 14 shades that range from neutral to vibrant red. I for one am obsessed with reddy tones on the eyes as I find them extremely flattering and they instantly completes and 'glams up' a make up look. A particular favourite is the shade 'Golden Ochre' which kind of mimics the colour of baby sick (in the best possible way). In the pan it looks very 'meh' but once you swipe it through the crease and under the eye it creates such a beautiful golden sheen and it looks great.

Here are three of my favourites swatched. The stand out shade of the palette which for me sells it at a first glance is 'Love Letter'. It is the bright berry shade that you instantly recognise from the palette and can be worn to brighten up a berry eye look or it can be worn swiped all over and under the eye if you're feeling brave. Realgar is also a winner in my eyes (no pun intended). It is similar to MAC's Red Brick but far more pigmented and easier to blend. Burnt Orange is my favourite transition shade in the palette. It is a subtle orange tone that makes the eyes pop and instantly look more alive.

The formula of every shade in the palette is unusually buttery and pigmented. It really is impressive. But, the reason why I have fallen in love with this palette from the get go is the variety of unusual shades that I have rarely seen before. This palette definitely isn't for the faint hearted. If you're a neutral eye lover it definitely isn't for you but if you like to experiment with colour and enjoy a festive look at this time of year, I wouldn't opt for anything else.

It is £41 and is available on Cult Beauty.
To celebrate the launch of Kat Von D Beauty which has arrived in Oxford Street Debenhams this week I thought I would share my own experience of her Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. Kat Von D is a beauty icon, her signature look has inspired many to express their creativity and originality through make-up, so who better to create a make-up line!?

It is no surprise that Kat Von D has injected some crazy colours into her make-up line and the packaging is somewhat gothic but the products (from what I have tried) are no gimmick. Let's start with the formula - it is one of the best liquid lip formulas I have tried due to its opaque pigmentation, long wearing nature and it doesn't dry your lips out.

I picked up the colour 'Double Dare' in Sephora when I was over in Canada as I had heard such great things. What enticed me was it's unique shade. It is an amped up browny, pinky, mauvey nude that looks perfect for day to day wear and can be carried through to date night or whatever you may be doing in the evening.

Not only are the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks one of the best formulas on the market they are also very reasonably priced. They retail for £16 which I think is to be commended. The lipstick tube itself is very long and skinny which seems to be more handy to travel with and is overall a bit nicer/easier to apply.

Not only do I dare you to pick up something from the Kat Von D range, I think you would be a fool not to!
This review has been a long time coming. I've been using the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation for a while now, ever since I started my job in London and had access to a Space NK. This product has been on my wish list for years but due to living in a city that didn't stock Nars anywhere I patiently waited...

I wanted to get my hands on this product for so long because it promised a dewy finish but with a decent amount of coverage - the dream! I can now report back.

Long story short. It delivers exactly that. It has a beautifully lightweight consistency that glides on to the skin and requires a pea-sized amount of product. My shade is 'Deauville' meaning that I am a tad pale but it comes in 20 different shades to suit every skin tone. I use the Real Techniques Contour Brush to apply this foundation. I feel like because it applies so seamlessly it does not require a large buffing brush therefore I like to apply it with this smaller one to achieve more precision and to be able to get in and around those tricky areas (under the eyes/around the nose).

This foundation is definitely not sheer, despite it's name. But, it does leave the skin looking beautifully dewy with a luminous glow. If you have combination to oily skin like me it does require a setting powder as the shine can be too much as it wears throughout the day.

The only downside to this foundation, which is widely publicised is that it hasn't got a pump. Because of this you end up with a product that looks like the above (how dare it ruin my flat lay)! To combat this issue, Nars do sell seperate pumps that you can attach to it. However, when you are forking out £31 for a foundation, you do not want any extra cost thrown on top.

Despite this issue, the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is a staple in my make-up bag. I have mildly succumb to the fact that I will never come across the perfect foundation so for the mean time, this will have to do. A glowing review? I think so.
Due to clever marketing and the hype that often surrounds a product it is more than easy to gently be coerced into purchasing and repurchasing something that sometimes does not even do the job that it is supposed to do. However, every now and then you come across a product or a brand that simply just works and that is why I am here to talk to you about Alpha-H.

Unlike big-budget, commercial brands Alpha-H is family run and is driven by customer satisfaction and results. Founder Michelle Doherty suffered from acne for years and longed to find something that would genuinely treat her skin, this drove her to create her own brand that contains incredible active ingredients and would improve peoples skin at a reasonable price. Alpha-H was born.

This brand loves a good dose of Glycolic Acid and as I have discovered, so does my skin. For those of you who are new to acid exfoliators Glycolic Acid is exactly that. It works by removing dead skin cells to help rejuvenate, even out the texture and appearance of the skin. As you all know, I have suffered from acne and am now left with not the prettiest scars on my cheeks. Alpha-H Liquid Gold is my hero product when it comes to helping reduce the appearance of these scars and has definitely worked its magic on my skin.

This product alone has transformed many peoples skin and is known as the brand's cult product (and for good reason). You simply squeeze a few drops on a cotton pad and swipe all over the face at night time and wake up with visibly clearer and brighter skin. I like to use this two/three times a week without following it with a moisturiser as it works as a more intense treatment that way.

The second stand out product for me is the Balancing and Pore Refining Mask. Even though my major skin concern is scarring I still get the odd hormonal blemish and this mask works a treat in eradicating them. I don't often use this all over my face, I usually use it to target certain areas (usually my chin). It contains White Clay to draw out impurities, Lavender to calm the skin and Vitamin A to treat the overall appearance. My top tip is if you have a nasty blemish appear, dab a thick layer of this on to it, leave it for half an hour and wash off! Blemish is practically no more. There are so many more products in the range that I am dying to talk to you about, so let me know if you want to know more.

You cannot get away from fads and trends in beauty. A lot of the time they are based on marketing gimmicks and quantity appears to be more important than quality but every now and then a trend comes along and it manages to successfully hold its place on the shelf.

The subject of this blog post is the newest trend to hit the beauty scene - the cushion foundation. A trend that originated in Korea (like with most exciting and innovative beauty products) and it has slowly made its way over to the UK and as a result, I am a very happy beauty blogger.

(Apologies for the shadows)

So, what is unique about it? The foundation itself is dispersed in a cushion and is a liquid formula. This means that the formula is more airy/light and less likely to cake. Admittedly, I'm a medium coverage type of gal so originally the lightness of cushion foundations struck up a red light for me. However, I was mistaken. The L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation is perfectly buildable. I would compare it's finish and texture to a BB/CC cream but with the ability to build up to a medium coverage.

I am a huge fan of the L'Oreal Nude Magique collection as a whole. Their original foundation and highlighter pen are a staple in my make-up bag. This foundation holds up it's legacy, which to me is a glowy and dewy finish with great coverage and a perfect colour match. One thing I was worried about was how long the foundation would last because I wasn't sure how much product would fit in a cushion but the answer is alot. What I've found to be the best form of application is using a Beauty Blender or a complexion sponge. I think this is because the texture of the cushion and a sponge is mightily similar and blends much easier on the skin.

Why buy? It costs £14.99 which in my opinion is very cheap for such a great quality foundation. It's texture is comparable to a luxury make-up product and its glowy finish is perfect for this time of year.

*My only complaint would be that it only comes in 7 shades and the darkest shade is no way near dark enough to represent those with a darker skin tone.
Back in my teens I suffered with acne and was recommended the Clinique 3 step system, which included a foaming cleanser. After a duration of half an hour my skin was left dry, flaky and generally sore from the stripping properties of the products. Since then, alongside a general consensus that foaming cleansers are bad I have stayed clear. However, when this product landed on my doorstep my opinions were definitely swayed.

Being a balm devotee at heart it was hard for me to use anything else to cleanse my face. However, I was in need of a quick morning cleanser that I could use in the shower and that would wash my face but at the same time hydrate my skin and prepare me for the day ahead. This Gallinee Foaming Cleanser does just that. It has a subtle citrus scent to it which is invigorating and peps me up in the morning and is super quick and easy.

As you can see the cleanser comes out as a light foam that should be applied to damp skin. According to Gallinee it is 'soap free and contains 98% natural ingredients', it is also free from SLS and parabens.

What I love...When massaged into the skin the foam begins to feel soft and creamy which means a little goes a long way and it does leave the soothing effect of a 'proper cleanse'. It also retails at £14 which puts this cleanser into a cheaper price bracket but the quality is that of a high end skincare product. I have combination skin and it does wonders for effectively cleansing it. I believe it would also be fab for those of you with oily skin as it leaves a desired 'clean' feeling (not squeaky clean) however it may not have enough moisture for those of you with dry skin. Nevertheless, I would definitely give it a go to see whether or not it suits your skin type as it appears to be a successful all-rounder. This cleanser does what it says on the tin and has become a staple in my morning skincare routine.

Gallinee is a spanking new brand to hit the beauty scene and was started by the beautiful Marie Drago, a French doctor and skincare expert. It's main message is that it takes care of the 'good' bacteria in your skin called the microbiome and nourishes the skin back to health. My conclusive opinion on this cleanser is that I love using it and it fits perfectly into my morning routine. I am excited to try more from the capsule collection and will be keeping my eyes peeled for more products!

Forget turquoise glitter and grey lipstick, these are two examples of trend products that you will not see grace her rose-gold counter. However, what you will find is a perfect selection of products that will accentuate your features and that are a dream to use (and look at).

Charlotte's Lip Cheat in 'Pillow Talk' is a lip liner that never leaves my make-up bag and that has replaced my collection of nude lipsticks. Here is why I love it.

(Excuse the cup of tea, this is a blog post conducted with a hangover)

First things first, the formula is beautiful. It is majorly creamy and glides seamlessly on to the lips meaning that you can create a soft line that is reminiscent of your natural lip line - hence the name 'lip cheat'. Pillow Talk is a shade that sums up the phrase 'my lips but better' despite the phrase itself being beyond annoying it is undoubtedly true. It is the perfect combo of pink/mauve/brown that really compliments my particular skin tone. Although, this does not mean it wouldn't suit other skin tones. It would look amazing on pale girls with a lighter shade put on the centre of the lips. Plus, on darker skin tones it would look just as great paired with a nude gloss. Take a look at a swatch.

Why buy? Despite Charlotte Tilbury being a high-end luxury brand this lip liner is priced at £16, which in my opinion is a steal. As well as being a reasonable price, there are no other lip liners like these on the market - not as creamy or blendable. It also adds to the whole effect that every time I apply it I cannot help bursting out into song, which may be influenced by a certain commercial pop artist.

Charlotte Tilbury is available in her flagship store in Covent Garden and department stores including Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.

All hail Charlotte!

Sunday Riley has hit the beauty scene by storm with their decadent packaging, high-tech formulas and effortless simplicity. With a small selection of facial oils and the odd cleanser, the brand puts their all into the production of these pocket-sized vials of skincare goodness and in my opinion for good reason. I was gifted the 'Luna Sleeping Night Oil' and after hearing all the hype surrounding this particular product needless to say I was excited to try it.

The first thing to address is the stark colour of the oil. It is bright blue due to the Blue Tansy that is within its list of ingredients however it isn't an issue. As this oil is supposed to be used for night-time use only the slight blue tinge shouldn't be a problem (don't worry, you're not going to look like a human smurf)! Here is a swatch:

If you can get over the colour of this product, which you definitely should, its effects are brilliant. Hydration is what Luna has helped me with as the name of this post would suggest but it has also helped with the acne scarring on my cheeks. For all of you acne sufferers that are wary of putting oils on to your face, don't be! They are great for counteracting your oil production and more often than not give you astounding benefits.

There is no getting away from the fact that this product is pricey. It is £85 for 30ml. Yes, I know but if you would spend £85 on a handbag or a piece of clothing then why not? As Caroline Hirons points out, you only have one face. If this is in your budget then I would highly recommend it.

Why I love this product - I always struggle with night time hydration. My normal day time moisturiser is not heavy enough to warrant a 'night cream' and products that are marketed as 'night creams' are never normally thick enough anyway. This is when I turned to an oil. The benefits of an oil is that it will retain moisture better and will overall be more nourishing (on the whole). This one changed the appearance of my skin in a matter of days. When I put this on at night time, the next morning I wake up with visibly more hydrated skin and with a natural looking 'glow'.

Previously when putting on foundation it was always hit and miss. Because I am naturally dehydrated, foundation would go on patchy or if I used a decent moisturiser before hand it would inevitably slip off my skin. However, since injecting this beauty into my night time skincare routine my skin is noticeably more hydrated and has solved this issue.

Why I decided to write a spontaneous Sunday post on Luna is its latest debut in the Lily and Anna Cult Beauty Box - how exciting! Luna features in the box, which categorises it as one of the bloggers favourite ever skin care products. It is also a 10/10 all rounder. Whether you are dry or oily a lot of people suffer with dehydrated skin due to a number of environmental conditions. This means, if you are looking for a product to resurface your skin (it contains retinol) or to simply give you that much-needed glow back then this might jump straight to the top of your beauty lust list.
I am also a sucker for beauty news, trends and general know-how about whats going on in the industry. As well as dissertation articles and numerous shopping links that I am yet to afford, beauty websites are a permanent fixture in my bookmarks. What do I mean by beauty websites? Digital platforms that are an encyclopaedia on all things beauty - what is hot right now, new product launches and career opportunities. As a soon-to-be English graduate who wants to make her way into the beauty industry, these kind of platforms make up a somewhat 'beauty bible' for me and happen to be what I scroll through with my morning cuppa. Here are my three top picks of beauty websites that you might enjoy if you're a fellow beauty nerd.
Get the Gloss is my holy grail. With a mixture of product reviews, expert interviews and regular columns it is a beauty lovers online dream. It is super user-friendly and a pleasure to look at. What I love about it (like the majority of the beauty sites I visit) is that it is beauty without the BS. More often than not beauty is sugar-coated by fake promises and expensive marketing, however Get the Gloss is undoubtedly authentic. The editor, Susannah Taylor also films a series of 'Editor Vlogs' over on their Youtube channel, which are a joy to watch and are once again highly informative (she is also a great person to follow on Instagram too, think motivation at its best)!

Get the Gloss also launched 'Get the Job' - its career driven sister, which is great for a budding beauty journalist/PR assistant like myself. So, if you happen to be looking to break into the beauty industry or are just a beauty lover after an interesting read, look no further.
The Pool is a no-nonsense beauty platform. Not only does it cover beauty but a multitude of subjects that are of interest to women on the go. The intellectual yet engaging tone of The Pool makes it a regular go-to for me. For those times when I am not in the mood for a product review or a 'what's gonna look good on you face' kind of post, The Pool offers original content that culturally critiques todays societies views on not just beauty but all things that effect women.

Acne and acne scaring has been a constant struggle for me since my early teens. Nowadays the pussy pimples are no more but the scars that they have left are definitely prevalent. The condition of my skin has never worried me enough to do something serious about it, however in the Summer this might change (stay tuned) but I am on a constant hunt for products that are going to reduce the appearance of my acne scars and overall improve the condition of my skin.

One day I simply had enough. My skin was irritating me so much I decided to do some 'proper' research and I came across Dr. Sam Bunting. A professional dermatologist and a trusted skincare expert by many beauty and skincare bloggers I thought I would stand up and pay attention. She highly recommend the La Roche-Posay 'Effaclar Duo [+]' as an anti-blemish cream and it is needless to say I went out and purchased it from my local Boots the next day.

But, what is it? It is an anti-blemish cream that unclogs pores, reduces the appearance of scars and improves the skins texture. You can use it morning and evening after cleansing and it can be used with or without a moisturiser. I personally like to use a generous amount all over my face and follow it up with a hydrating moisturiser (make-up applies beautifully on top of it).

Why buy? I saw immediate results with this product. I applied it before going to bed and when I woke up my redness and the appearance of scars on my cheeks had reduce significantly. I cannot think of another product that has had the same efficiency and it has become my skincare saviour. It contains a generous amount of salicylic acid, which is widely known to help blemish prone skin as well as being designed in partnership with dermatologists - that is always a good sign!

As I said I saw immediate results. But, this product carries on working wonders. After a week or so the cluster of scars on my right cheek were significantly smoothed out and the texture had improved. I have now been using this product for around 6 weeks and my pores appear smaller, my scars have improved and I am getting less spots.

This product is available from Boots for £15.50. (+ La Roche Posay is often on 3 for 2)

It is officially spring! The sun is shining (kind of), the flowers are blooming and skincare is at its best. Spring skincare for me is all about adding in that desired 'glow' that has been sucked out of me by the Winter months. It is all well and good adding artificial glow through make-up whether that be through foundation or a luminous powder but it is always better (in my opinion) to start with skincare and work up from there. Here are my three spring skincare staples that give immediate affects and never leave my morning routine.

I would go as far as saying that the Pixi 'Glow Tonic' has been the best skincare find of the past year for me. Since the day I purchased it (from M&S for £18) I have used it twice a day, everyday. But what exactly is it you may ask? Well, the simplified version would be an exfoliating toner with no beads/grit. Rather than using solid particles to exfoliate and remove dead skin, the glow tonic does the same thing but with safe acids. Glycolic is known to be one of the best for performing this function and is great for people who suffer with acne. It also has Aloe Vera and Ginseng in it to sooth and resurface the skin.

How to use it - Post cleanse, soak a cotton wool pad with the Glow Tonic and rub it all over your face and down your neck. This will leave your skin looking red but trust me, that is not a bad thing. It is simply getting rid of dead skin cells and resurfacing your skin meaning that it is a perfect product to ensure that your make-up applies beautifully.

Why buy? This product alone has significantly improved the texture of my skin. It has reduced my spots and made sure I have no dry patches. Putting make-up on top of this product is a dream. It applies so smoothly and like the name suggests it adds glow and a luminosity to your skin that is perfect for spring.

Say hello to radiance in a bottle (and for £6.99 too)! I was getting a bit fed up with my serum and moisturiser combo that I was using previously as it wasn't giving me that desired 'oomph' that I long for. But, whilst having a long and outdated peruse in Boots at their budget skincare section I spotted this beauty. The Botanics 'Radiance Concentrate Serum' is a concentrated serum that is designed to brighten the skin and to also sink in to the skin quickly and it certainly does both of those things. You need just 2/3 drops of this stuff to cover your whole face sufficiently.

Why Buy? This is an added extra that makes a big difference. Use after Glow Tonic and before your moisturiser to add another layer of hydration. It acts as a kind of sealing agent to make sure your moisturiser acts in the best way possible and it also has a great dose of glow, which is what I am all about for springtime.

Glossy mags are a great way of trying and testing new products and that is exactly how I managed to discover the Balance Me 'Radiance Face Mask'. I think you may be sick of hearing the word 'radiance' by now but that pretty much sums up spring skincare for me. This mask was a freebie in this months Glamour mag and it caught my eye because of the great reputation that Balance Me uphold. Previously, I have never tried anything from the brand but after trying this mask that will most definitely change.

Why Buy? I have really gotten into face masks recently. But, they are definitely a hit and miss product that are more often than not based on gimmicks. However, this mask ticks all the boxes. You smother a generous layer over the skin and leave for 5/10 minutes (if you're me, 5/10 hours) and you are left with smooth and glowing skin. It is a mask that works immediately. When I wake up the next morning my skin is noticeably less red and has much more glow than the previous evening. The full size is £18 and is available at www.feelunique.com.

There you have it, my spring skincare edit that will see me through until summer. If you want glowing skin, you know what to do girl.

This is one of those really annoying posts that begins with 'you cannot really get this in the UK but it is bloody brilliant'. You can order this online however and get it shipped through www.activeskin.com.au. But, I could not help sharing with you lovely lot how much of a great idea this product is. As a lot of the time with beauty products, their gimmicks can overshadow and sometimes be a coverup for their lack of quality. However, the Napoleon Perdis Miss Pink Mist Boudoir Blush is an exception.

Let's get things straight. If you haven't got the budget to be splashing out on a £25-£30 blush then don't buy it. But, if you are a blush fanatic and it is in your price range then I would highly recommend this one. I was introduced to this product back in September when I flew out to Australia. Napoleon Perdis is one of their cult beauty brands that is famous in oz for being a knock out and what I have tried of it I completely agree. When the sales assistant spritz this on to my face I was truly surprised. My initial thoughts were - 'this can't actually work, what a gimmick, this will surely be patchy on my skin'. But, oh how wrong I was. The finish of this is beautiful. A subtle but defined highlighted cheek that is (in my opinion) the perfect blush shade, half way between a peach and a pink.

What I love about this blush is the colour and finish of it. You wouldn't want any more from a blush and lets face it, anything in a can that you can spray on your face is always a winner (not to be rude)! What I learnt from the sales assistant is that you spray it on your face in the shape of a 'Nike' tick. It disperses the product with most of it on the apple of your cheeks to then becoming more subtle, which creates a gradient effect. What is the benefit of a spray blush? In a nutshell, it is the perfect limbo between a powder and a cream. It adds a dewy look to the skin like a cream product does but stays put like a powder.

What I don't love is that it isn't compatible with all formulas. For example, if I powder my face after my foundation with the well-loved Rimmel 'Stay Matte' powder and then apply this on top, it will separate on my face throughout the day. The trick is to stick to using liquid/cream products with this one. It truly excels when paired with a dewy BB cream and a swipe of cream eyeshadow over the lid. Add a Revlon Lip Butter and you are good to go. Glowing skin ready for spring.
Like most, I go through phases of loving it and wearing it everyday. But, then sometimes life gets in the way and who has the time!? However, I've managed to bag an eyeliner that pips all the high-end liners to the post for an astounding price of £1.99. Here it is folks.

Credit has to be given to a gorgeous Youtuber and MUA named 'ameliarosetaylor' who swears by the Natural Collection Black Liquid Eyeliner and if you even take a quick glance over at her make-up tutorials, you will understand why I trust her judgement. I did have initial doubt and thought how can an eyeliner that costs £1.99 be opaque black and easy to use. But, as soon as I used this on my eyes I was whole-heartedly sold.

What I love about this liner is that it does what it says on the tin (and rather well I may add). Previous problems that I have always had with eyeliners include - the colour pay off is a bit wishy-washy, they never seem to come out opaque black, they dry up quickly and I can never find the perfect nib or method of application. But, this liner does it all. It's so simple but so effective. The consistency of the eye-liner itself is quite thin so it is easy to apply and isn't scratchy. The colour pay-off is great! It applies opaque black and shiny but dries to a matte finish, which looks super sleek. The best thing about this liner and why I love it so much is it's nib. As you can see from the picture above it is like a teeny tiny paintbrush which means it naturally follows the curvature of your eye. So, rather than having to carve out a perfectly mapped cat-eye flick, the brush does all the work for you. Plus, because of how thin it is you can create the sharpest of lines! You know what they say, your wings should be so sharp that they could kill a man.

What I don't love about this eyeliner is that it doesn't come in a multitude of colours. I would adore this liner in burgundy, navy blue or even a khaki green. I know it's a lot to ask for £1.99, but you know...a girl can dream.
But, despite selling great body products their make-up range is equally as great. One of their latest releases is the 'One Heck of a Blot Foundaton.' It is a foundation marketed towards people with oily skin and is a liquid to powder formula. If you are after a foundation that lasts all day and that isn't totally matte. Keep reading.

One Heck of a Blot Foundation in 'Fair Enough' + Beauty Blender

What I love about this foundation is the medium-high buildable coverage. My skin has been a nightmare at the moment, spot-prone but at the same time quite dry in places. My pores also seem to be bigger than usual (I'm having a Regina George moment)! This foundation is admittedly quite thick. But, I like that. It's not for the faint hearted and it covers a multitude of sins. I wear the shade 'Fair Enough' which is perfect for me. But, I'm not that fair in comparison and this is the lightest shade they do. So, if you wear below an NW15 in MAC, the colour range may not be suited to you. Otherwise, the foundation comes in 4 variable shades.

When a foundation says it's long wearing I am always a bit dubious. However, this foundation really does last all day. I was off to London for a full day and had an event to go to in the evening, I applied this foundation at 7am and it lasted pretty much until 10pm. I had to touch up with concealer but other than that my base looked great. I also love the finish this foundation gives. Even though it's marketed towards oilier skins, it doesn't have a solidly matte finish. It's more semi-matte. Meaning that it knocks out any shine but still leaves a dewy finish (especially on the cheeks). I choose to apply this foundation with a beauty blender. I spritz the beauty blender first with a misting spray such as the Lush 'Breath of Fresh Air' Toner Spray to ensure the foundation blends seamlessly into my skin and simultaneously leaves an even dewier finish.

What I don't love about this foundation is very limited. The only issue I have had is that if I do not apply a thicker moisturiser underneath it can look dry in places. However, this issue would be down to your skin type. Like I said, at the moment I am slightly dry therefore I need to add extra moisture to my skin through my skincare. I like to use the 'Million Dollar Moisturiser' by Lush to hydrate my skin beforehand and to add buckets of glow.

To summarise, I would highly recommend this foundation. It's a great one for normal-oily skin types. It's coverage is amazing and it lasts all day. It's a winner in my books! Top Tip: If you find that this formula works well for you, Soap & Glory do a 'One Heck of a Blot Powder' that would work great as an extra layer for those of you who struggle with oiliness.

Last week I was invited to the SS16 launch of Gosh cosmetics. It was held at the Metropolitan Hotel on Old Park Lane and was frankly, lovely. I was greeted with champagne on arrival and I enjoyed some scrummy canapés whilst perusing the latest in their beauty range. I even had the pleasure of getting my make-up done by the Gosh global make-up artist Sidsel Marie, using my favourite product from the range, the matte eyeshadow sticks.

Gosh have released quite a few new products (as pictured above) and they all immediately caught my eye, for the right reasons. Each product from the range has an individual quirk that gets a beauty fanatic like me rather excited (in a perfectly non-weird way).

What I loved about this new collection is that the eye products are completely matte. There is also a keen focus on natural ingredients (their new lip oils) and the liquid highlighter gives bucket full of radiance. Take a look at some of my top picks.

Matte eyeshadows are a rare occurrence in drugstores and with cheaper brands in general. Not only has Gosh entered into unknown territory but have done it extremely well. The shadows, despite being matte, are soft, buttery and blend like a dream. The colours are also highly wearable for any skin tone and for any occasion. FYI you can create the smokiest of smoky eyes with this!

An added bonus is that there is no useless spongey applicator in the palette so you get more shadow for your buck. The palette is also very flat, which is great for travelling. No fuss, no frills just quality product.

Talking of smoky eyes, these matte eyeshadow sticks are utterly fab. The pigmentation is great and like the eyeshadows, the texture is buttery and easy to blend (but once it's on, it stays put). There are four shades in the range, a grey, two browns and a black. My favourites are the two brown shades. Sidsel advised me that because I have dark brown eyes, even darker brown looks great. If you're going to go dark, do it properly. These sticks retail at £6.29, which like all of the collection is a fair and affordable price for the quality of the product.

Enough of eyes, lets talk skin. These Lumi Drops are an all-rounder that can be used in various ways. In the Summer it would work well mixed in with your foundation to create a luminous glow all over. So far I have used them as a cheek highlight before powder and as an inner corner highlight. To create an editorial, glossy look Sidsel used it over the top of the matte eyeshadow sticks. Front cover of Elle here I come? Not just yet. The Lumi Drops also come in a lighter and darker shade to fit with all skin tones.

Current hype alert! Revolution Make-Up has been at the forefront of make-up chat in 2016 thus far. An overload of shimmery highlighters and matte eyeshadows has graced my social media and these guys are to blame. So, I couldn't help but jump on the band-wagon and give them a go myself. Come on, everyone loves a copycat!

Highlighting has been the number one craze for a good year or so now and it does not look like that craze is going to slow down, even slightly. Revolution has bucked the trend. Drugstore/cheaper highlighters (if brands even bothered to create them) were glittery, chunky and unflattering. However, since the take off of brands such as Anastasia Beverley Hills and theBalm, highlighting has become a necessity for the everyday make-up wearer. But, not everyone is willing to pay £30 for a face powder to grace the top of your cheekbones. Revolution has the answer...

Radiance Highlighter Palette

A trio of highlighters may be too much for some, but not for many! As you can see this palette contains three unique highlighting powders. The powder on the left is a light champagne highlight that would suit a range of skin tones. The middle highlighter is one for pale girls. It's pearly undertone could look too stark on some. Finally, the bronzy highlighter on the right looks great with a tan, also as an all over lid shade.

This palette offers great quality for it's price of £8. Yes, £8! They do not look chunky on the cheeks and add a subtle highlight. There is the key word, 'subtle'. For those of you that love a heavily highlighted look (like myself) these may not be for you. However, if you love make-up and are willing to accept the balance of quality and price tag definitely give this palette a whirl.

Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette (Light)

I've not heard much about this concealer palette through the grapevine. But, a concealer palette that can be doubled up as a contouring one is right up my street. This palette contains 8 lighter toned concealer shades, two of them being dark enough for me to use as a subtle contour. Likewise, this palette was beyond cheap - £6 to be exact.

I am concealer's toughest critic and these ones are not far off. The texture is thick but creamy, great for under the eyes as they add buckets of brightness! But, for me they do not completely cover issues you may have with your skin e.g. spots, redness etc. However, it is refreshing to find concealers from the drugstore in palette form that do not cake or chalk on the skin. I happily use these to carve out my contour, carve out my brows and to use under the eyes.

Ultra Professional Eyeshadow Flawless Matte Palette

This palette is a stand out product for me. First things first, it is unheard of to find a completely matte eyeshadow palette on the high-street and secondly to find eyeshadows that are of this good quality. You're probably bored of hearing this but once again the price of this palette is extraordinary, £8! £8 for 32 eyeshadows.

The only palette that I own that is remotely similar to this is the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. But, I would contend that these eyeshadows marginally exceed their quality. The Naked shadows can look chalky and can be difficult to blend. Whereas, Revolution has seem to overcome this issue when it comes to mattes. Most importantly, I love the colours! Cool tones, warm tones, lights, darks, they're all covered in this palette and I feel like for any make-up lover that is an eyeshadow fiend like me, this palette cannot be overlooked.
Revolution is a brand that I would urge you to try out. They may not have caused a revolution but they're the number one imitator on the market. They have caught on to current trends and have produced them for a margin of the price. Plus, they are produced in London, which is always a nice change. I would love to know what your opinions of this brand are and if you have tried out any stand out products. Be sure to let me know.
First things first, Merry Christmas and a happy new year! 2015 has been a great year for me. I've travelled, made even more incredible friends and really feel like I have learnt a lot. In terms of this little online space that I like to call a beauty blog, it has become something that I am extremely proud of and has also verified what path I wish to pursue after my degree. For me, 2016 is going to be about graduating, travelling the world and getting my foot in the door. One thing I am sure of is that it is not going to be easy but I am definitely ready to take life by the glitter filled horns and work hard as well as play hard.

Back to business. The one thing on my Christmas list that I was not expecting to receive was the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit. However, when I spotted a Space NK package wrapped underneath the tree I had a sneaky feeling that it might have been it and it was. I am well aware that this palette is excessive. £65 for six powders is beyond pricey but the quality is incomparable.

This palette includes six of Hourglass' stand out powders that are often referred to as some of the best on the market and I would have to agree. There are two setting powders, a highlight shade, two blushers and a bronzer, this palette truly is an all-rounder. Not only do all the powders come in one nifty palette but the packaging is gorgeous - gold, sleek and compact. Here is a run down of what is inside (top left to bottom right):

Dim Light - A neutral shade that works great as an all over face powder. Focusing it on the T zone ensures that it will blur any perfections.

Iridescent Strobe Light (new) - A pearly pink powder that adds buckets of luminosity to the face. This shade is a tad too pink for me as I usually go for yellow undertones. However, it is gorgeous as a brow highlight.

Diffused Light - The best under eye powder I have ever used. It's yellow undertone counteracts dark under eye circles as well as redness.

Mood Exposure - Who knew a blush could be so flattering? I naturally sway towards peachy toned blushers however this one could almost be mistaken for a contour and is beautiful. Blended in with bronzer and put on the apple of the cheeks, it mimics a natural flush that doesn't look like 'blusher'.

Luminous Flush - Dozed in candlelight would be an understatement. Luminous Flush is a pinky toned blush that adds a subtle glow to the cheeks without having to use highlighter.

Luminous Bronze Light - My favourite powder in the palette! This bronzer is in a league of its own. Whilst bronzing the face and adding buckets of luminosity to it, it also perfectly sculpts. I love to use the Real Techniques Blush Brush to achieve this look.

Top tip: Hold the brush at the very end of the handle to ensure that you do not pack on product. Use circular motions which will ensure a perfectly blended bronzed look.

This palette speaks for itself. It is luxury beauty at it's best. Quality mixed with quantity for a fair, but at the same time excessive price tag. I really love Hourglass as a brand because they do beauty right. They are high-end makeup and are not afraid to shy away from that. For a beauty indulger like me this is the perfect palette that is worth splashing your cash on. The individual powders range from £28-£38 so if you were interested in trying them out, this is a great all in one product to opt for.

The 3rd of December calls for the second product to be revealed in my 12 Days of Unique Beauty Advent Calendar. It is the Phillip Kingsley 'Elasticizer!'

I've wanted to try this hair moisturiser for a long, long time. It seems to be a celeb favourite and is always plastered over the beauty editors all time products. It was originally created for Audrey Hepburn to cure her damaged hair through years of colouring and styling - and if it's good enough for Audrey it's good enough for me.

It is a pre-shampoo treatment that you put through damp hair, focusing on the ends and lower half of the hair to give dry hair an instant dose of moisturise, shine and bounce. If you cannot tell, I am very excited to try this product and give an in-depth review once I have formed a solid opinion. Yes hair, you can thank me now!

Every girl needs a hydrating day cream this winter. December 5th marks the third opening of my 12 Days of Unique Beauty advent calendar. As soon as I swatched this product on my hand I knew it would be one that I will be excited to use as my everyday moisturiser. It's a very light consistency which sinks into the skin beautifully with no oily residue.

The scent of this product fills me with nostalgia. The geranium and rose-hip oils give it that subtle hint of rose botanicals that reminds me of old-school skincare products that mature women swear by. The brand Grown Alchemist I have come across before but have never delved into. All I am aware of is that it has a great reputation and this particular day-cream is one of their staple products.

Not the most exciting gift so far but one that definitely won't leave my make-up/skincare stash.

Day 4

'You can never have enough shower gels' - My wise and red-headed flat mate.

Day 4 of the 12 Days of Unique Beauty reveals the Roger and Gallet Shower Cream. Shower gel isn't the most exciting gift to receive, but just as important nonetheless. I used this in the shower this morning to give a quick mini review and it is lovely. The scent is part of their 'Fleur de Figuier' range and I would describe it as zingy and refreshing. It has a familiar grapefruit scent but is more of an amped up version.

The description of 'shower cream' suggests that it has a thicker and creamier consistency than shower gel. However, I would say that it feels and has the same effect as a shower oil. It is very luxurious and lathers up nicely but leaves you with an oily residue (the good kind!) that feels both refreshing and hydrating. It is a thumbs up from me!

Day 5 marks a very exciting gift. The Fleur de Force Eyeshadow Quad in 'Cosmic Bronze' ! I've followed Fleur's blog and Youtube channel for years and when I heard she was coming out with a make-up range I was looking forward to getting my hands on it to give it a try. I didn't really have much of an expectation. The low price tag alongside the cheap-looking packaging underwhelmed me a little bit but as soon as I swatched the eye-shadows I was pleasantly surprised.

The eye-shadow palette contains four very wearable and everyday shades. As the name of the palette would suggest the shades all have a bronze undertone. There is an all over matte lid shadow, a crease cutter, a darker shadow to smoke it out and an inner corner highlighter - what more does a girl need?

Make sure to let me know if you would like to see a more in-depth review and cheeky selfies with the shadows in all their glory!

Hello Day 6 (Dec 11th)! Behind the sixth door was this little beauty, the Phyto Subtil Elixir Shine Oil. From what I can make out it is a high-end, nourishing hair oil that retails at £24.50. The ingredients list is impressive to say the least. The star ingredients are egg yolk, corn germ, carnage and camellia oils. Egg yolk!? Yep. Egg yolk is full of protein and amino acids which help repair damaged hair and to add a bucket load of shine.

This product isn't really for me and that's okay! I have naturally very straight and oily hair which If i used this product would turn into an oil slick. Unlike me, Megan has naturally curly and dry hair so this should work wonders for her!

It's Sunday! What better way to spend a Sunday than to pamper yourself, am I right? Today is the 7th day of unique beauty which revealed the Redken Extreme Length Primer. It seems like an unnecessary luxury to me, a primer for your hair. However, I have heard great things and I am yet to try it. A good sign is that it is completely out of stock on feelunique.com which means it has proved to be a highly sought after product!

Once again, this product isn't particularly suited to my hair type. It is for all you girls that dream of having longer hair and spend hours fishing your hairballs out of the shower (not a nice image, sorry!) I believe it works by strengthening the ends of your hair, so your split ends are less likely to break and stunt your hair growth. It says to use it after shampooing and before conditioning as a leave on treatment.

Even though this product isn't best suited to my hair, I'll be sure to give it a whirl.

Day 8

I was thrilled to see this little gem behind door 8. A pillow spray may seem a bit boring to some, however I've been dying to try this product for a long time. The 'This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray' is as simple as it seems. It is a pillow spray that is supposed to help you sleep and encourage you to sleep much deeper than you normally would.

It is infused with lavender, vetivert and chamomile which (from working at Lush) tells me that it is the magic concoction for sleep. These ingredients crop up again and again for their calming qualities and affects. I won't need to be using this anytime soon as university has well and truly knocked me out. However, for those nights when I need that little extra shove, I'll be turning to this cult beauty product.

It's day 9 and what better way to celebrate than with a high-end skincare product thats going to kick my skin back into shape! This teeny bottle of goodness is the 'Gatineau Collagene Expert Ultimate Smoothing Serum.'

I have never heard of this brand before and that is what I am thoroughly enjoying about the Feel Unique beauty advent calendar. I've received quite a few items that are new to me which gives me the opportunity to try out something completely new which is separated from all the blogger hype!

My first impressions of this serum is that it is ultra lightweight and a great base for make-up. I used this after my toner and before my normal day cream. It's consistency is light and creamy, unlike a lot of serums that I dislike which predominantly feel like silicone on the skin. I'm excited to carry on using this and to report back whether or not it lives up to it's possible smoothing effects!

We are nearly there! Behind door number 10 was one of the 'Popband Hairties'. A little underwhelming but nevertheless a necessity in every (or most) girl's life. The great thing about this hair tie in particular is that it is 'kinkless'. The ponytail/bun can be as tight as you need it to be and because of the material it will never leave a kink.

I have also noticed that it does't catch on your hair when you pull it out. There is nothing worse than taking out a ponytail and you are left with half your hair caught on the metal attachment! In true Christmas style, a festive glittery star is a lovely detail that would top off any hairstyle on Christmas day.

It's the penultimate day and I am home for Christmas! Behind door 11 was this full size 'Salcura Winter Warming Hand Therapy' hand cream. This is the first product in the Feel Unique advent calendar that has been full sized and what a treat it is!

This hand cream is thick and luxurious but isn't greasy. It sinks into the hands really quickly despite it's thick texture. As it is the winter edition I expected it to have a festive scent and it does. A warm comforting ginger scent with an undertone of vanilla bean - so Christmassy. The festive packaging is also much appreciated, it looks great on my beauty shelf!

It is the final day and behind door 12 was my favourite gift so far, the 'Nuxe Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm'. I've wanted to give this lip balm a try for a while now as the word on the street is that it is the best and most nourishing lip balm on the market. As a beauty blogger favourite I had high hopes and I definitely wasn't disappointed.

It is so popular that this lip balm is sold once every 28 seconds around the world. But, what is so great about it? It is definitely the most nourishing lip balm that I have ever tried. It is ultra thick and creamy and gives a lovely shine to the lips. I applied a generous amount before work in the morning and it kept my lips moisturised all day. It is a total winner in my books!

I love a bargain. My blog often features affordable beauty products that work well and what I believe to be great value for money. However, I love a fancy and indulgent product as much as the next girl.

When I had the chance to review the Diptyque Nourishing Cleansing Balm I was sceptical at first because of it's high price tag of £44. But, the second I put it on my face, the sceptic blogger that I try not to be, was gone.

Everything about this product screams luxury. It's pristine white packaging and the intricate, weighty pot that it comes in all goes towards the heavy price tag. But, when the product inside is just as good it makes it hard to be critical - everyone loves pretty products in their bathroom to add to their decor, don't they?!

It is a cleansing balm which means it comes in solid form but immediately melts into an oil when it is applied to skin. The smell of it is beautiful. Turkish delight springs to mind, but it is really the geranium oil mixed with sweet almond oil that creates a natural scent which isn't offensive and is more of a pleasure to apply.

The texture of it is what you would imagine an expensive balm to feel like. It slides beautifully on to dry skin and instantly begins to break down and dissolve make-up (it's great for when you've packed your face with an obscene amount of products)! Simply wash off with a warm flannel and you are good to go.

The benefits that I have noticed is that it leaves my skin feeling soft and supple and is a perfect first layer to build other skincare products on top of. I'm also suffering with a number of break outs at the moment and it really helps to reduce the redness that surrounds them and seems to calm them down quite a bit. It's also stated by Diptyque that you can apply a thick layer all over the face to act as a nourishing masks for tired/dull skin - I still need to try this!

If a £44 cleansing balm is in your budget, I would highly recommend this one. The packaging is a pleasure to look at, the product inside is just as good if not better and you even get a mini spatula to avoid dirtying the product inside. But, if you are on a budget maybe splash your cash on a serum or a moisturiser that is designed to sink into the skin and not to be washed off.

We all like to indulge in luxury at Christmas time and if you are a fellow skincare junkie, why not... We won't judge you, I promise.

Warning! This is a spontaneous, unplanned post. So, apologies if it's not quite up to scratch. But, I couldn't resist letting you all know about these £1 lashes that without a doubt, do the trick.

For my Halloween outfit (that I didn't end up wearing) I purchased a pair of £1 fake eyelashes from Primark. I purchased them because I expected them to be majorly OTT and a tad offensive to be honest. However, before going on a girls night out a few days ago I found these beauties at the bottom of a crushed and unloved Primark bag.

Primark Sultry Lashes £1 (They even came with adhesive glue, which worked well)!

As expected, putting the whole line of lashes on looked ridiculous. But, being the initiative beauty blogger that I am (or that I have watched too many Jaclyn Hill videos) I came up with an alternative. I snipped off 2/3 of the lash and attached it to the outer third of my own lashes. I applied mascara before as usual, glued on the lash and applied more mascara afterwards to bind the two together. The end result was a natural outer flick with an added dose of drama - plus it created that desired feline, open-eyed look! I also recieved a handful of compliments from strangers insisting that they were my natural lashes and how long they were, which is always nice.

(Insert selfie.)

Maybe they wouldn't spring to mind on my wedding day or a special event but for a night out with the girls or date night, they are perfect! It's a yes from me, Primark.
