Back2Basics: Urban Decay Basics Palette Review

Urban Decay: Naked BASICS Palette - £22

As the hype for the Naked 1/2/3 is almost over. I thought I would talk about something a little more interesting - as we all know what a variation of shimmery neutral eye shadows look like...

Urban Decay have bought it back to basics with their ultimate BASICS palette. A collection of six matte eye shadow shades that are essential when creating any make-up look.

From left to right: Venus, Foxy, W.O.S (Walk of Shame), Naked 2, Faint, Crave
As you can see, you get a lot of bang for your buck. Unlike other palettes, Urban Decay have filled the full amount of space with eyeshadow product, rather than giving us a useless brush or matching lipgloss (that lets face it, nobody uses!)

Venus, Foxy and W.O.S are all fabulous shades to use in the inner corner of the eye to brighten up that whole area. Also, top tip - Foxy is perfect for an upper cheek highlight or to use sparingly on your cupids bow.

When it comes to my favourite, naked 2 takes it hands down. Slathered all over the lid or to use as an eyelid contour, this shadow is so versatile that no palette should be without it. If you're geared more towards MAC eyeshadows, 'Omega' is a pretty direct dupe.

Here are some swatches peoples...

It's hard to get a decent swatch of the first three lighter shades - woops, sorry! But I think you get the gist.

And for the final three, what colour pay off hey! Crave (the blackest shade) has so much depth through it, you can smoke it out when creating a smokey eye or what I mainly use it for, an alternative to eyeliner, run strongly on top of the lashes.

Any downside to this palette you may ask?

However much I hate to say it, I am crying out for a shimmery champagne shade! I know this has been purposefully constructed for those like me that hate glittery shadows, but at least one shimmery light shade wouldn't go a miss.

An overall happy camper who would recommend this to anyone who is simply sick of the same neutral eye shadow palette that we see again and again and wants something a little sexier.

What's your favourite Urban Decay Eyeshadow Palette?

Over and out x
